BBL treatments are similar to lasers in that light is used to target a certain part of the skin.
BBL use light filters with a broad spectrum of light to enable the light to treat multiple different skin conditions.
At Youth Lab we use BBL technology over the older, traditional IPL platforms. BBL is an updated and advanced form of IPL with filters that enable safe and effective treatment of signs associated with ageing, pigmentation, freckles, sunspots as well as facial flushing, redness, rosacea and capillaries.
The Sciton BBL platform is a more accurate and effective treatment method compared with IPL and delivers far superior results in less treatment sessions.
The Sciton BBL has also been proven to be an age defying treatment which can ‘flip the genetic switch’ and result in younger, clearer and brighter looking skin with continued regular use. This amazing treatment is called the Forever Young BBL.
We recommend a full course of corrective BBL treatments to treat a particular skin concern and to treat skin until it is functioning optimally, followed by maintenance Forever Young BBL treatments to maintain the quality of the skin and encourage collagen production.
BBL treatment is non-invasive with minimal down time so you can receive quick and comfortable treatments to fit in with your busy schedule.
Compared with traditional IPL the treatment is faster, more comfortable and safer due to increased practitioner control over the settings and treatment protocols.
BBL can be used to treat a number of different skin conditions:
- Pigmentation and pigmented lesions such as freckles and sun spots
- Dyschromia (brown or red discoloration of the skin)
- Redness and flushing
- Vascular lesions such as spider veins and visible blood vessels (small)
- Uneven skin texture and tone
- Skin laxity (BBL Skin Tyte II)
- Active acne (BBL Forever Clear)
- Unwanted hair (BBL Forever Bare)
- Anti ageing (Forever Young BBL)
BBL directs pulsed light energy which is converted to heat energy when it reaches the top layers of skin, gently heating the tissue.
This heat energy is then absorbed by certain targets (the light is attracted to different colours in the skin) such as fine broken blood vessels which cause redness and melanin which causes pigmentation and brown spots.
The light then damages the target, eliminating it from the skin and restoring the skin to its natural healthy condition. As a result the skin appears more refined, with even colour and texture giving a more youthful appearance.
A number of treatment sessions are required as it can take time for the damaged pigmentation, discolouration and veins to slowly disappear while they are absorbed by the body. Treatment sessions are variable and will be guided by the individual patient response and condition of the skin prior to treatment.
