What inspired you to become a Dermal Clinician?
I have always had a passion for skin, which likely stemmed from wanting to improve my own. Dealing with rosacea, pigmentation, and breakouts, I feel like I’ve been through it all. My love for science, especially human biology and cosmetic chemistry, also played a big part. I know firsthand how empowering it feels to care for your skin, and I love helping others achieve that same confidence.
What is your approach to skin treatments?
The way I approach skin treatments is always individual but as a general approach, at the beginning of a client’s skin journey, I always ensure we bring their skin to its healthiest state. This involves giving back to the skin, reducing inflammation, rejuvenating and strengthening the skin barrier. Once the skin is strong and healthy, it becomes more resilient and better equipped to handle more advanced or invasive treatments. By prioritising skin health first, results are longer-lasting and sustainable.
What do you love the most about being a Dermal Clinician?
One of the things I love most about being a Dermal Clinician is that I get to combine my passion for skincare with helping others feel confident in their own skin. I get to spend my days talking about skincare, educating clients, and using innovative technologies to create real changes.
What is your favourite concern to treat and why?
I love treating a variety of skin conditions because I can relate to clients dealing with multiple concerns at once. However, if I had to choose one, it would be rosacea/redness – especially when superficial vessels are present. Treating vessels can be incredibly satisfying because you can see them coagulate or disappear almost instantly.
After working with many rosacea clients over the past few years, I understand how this condition can be a source of pain and insecurity. Some people struggle with it their entire lives, while for others, it can develop later in life after years of having ‘normal’ skin. Seeing their skin improve is incredibly rewarding because I get to witness the positive impact it has on their daily lives. I especially love when a client shares that they no longer feel the need to wear makeup every day or that people have stopped asking if they’re sunburnt.
What are your favourite products to use on your skin?
My favourite products at the moment are Phloretin CF from Skinceuticals and Reboot from Cosmedix. Phloretin CF is an amazing morning antioxidant that contains Vitamin C, known for its brightening properties, protection against environmental damage, and support in collagen production. Reboot is a probiotic skin boosting serum that brings hydration and balance to my skin while I sleep. Both of these products work together to even out my skin tone and give me glowy, hydrated skin.
What treatments have you had this year? How can we get skin just like yours?
This year, I’ve been loving BBL (BroadBand Light) treatments to keep my skin looking plump and flawless. BBL is fantastic for addressing pigmentation, redness, and helping with overall skin tone, to give a brighter and more even complexion. This treatment targets multiple concerns at once, which is why I always lean towards it. If you want a treatment that targets your discolouration whilst stimulating collagen production and DNA repair, you should give this treatment a go. Don’t forget to always consult with a therapist first to see if it is suitable for you!
What is your favourite thing to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I love to exercise and socialise. Fitness has always been a big part of my life, as I grew up in a family that was always active – my mum, a personal trainer, and my dad playing professional tennis. Currently, I’m training for a half marathon, which is a new and exciting challenge since running hasn’t always been my favourite activity. When I’m not in the gym or at work, I enjoy spending time with my partner and friends. Since I’m originally from the east coast, I also make time to keep in touch with family and friends back home through regular phone calls.
What is your favourite part of working at Youth Lab?
My favourite part of working at Youth Lab is the sense of community and support within the team. The business genuinely cares about both its staff and clients, and that shows in every aspect of how we operate. From the comprehensive training to the positive workplace culture, I feel truly valued and empowered to do my best work. It’s rewarding to be part of a team that is passionate about delivering exceptional results while also creating a welcoming environment for everyone who walks through the door.
What treatment do you see becoming popular in 2025?
I believe that treatments enhancing natural beauty will continue to grow in popularity throughout 2025. Clients are looking for ways to achieve a healthy, youthful appearance while maintaining their own beautiful features. One treatment that will likely remain highly sought after is skin needling. It has been a cult favourite for years due to its ability to rejuvenate the skin, stimulate collagen production, and address a range of concerns, from fine lines to scarring. The results speak for themselves, making it a timeless and reliable option for many clients.
What is the one piece of skin advice you wish all of your clients would follow?
Have a holistic approach when thinking about your skin health. Lifestyle factors can play a significant role in the health of your skin. I encourage clients to pay attention to their overall health – what they consume can impact their skin. A personal favourite is discussing the importance of a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids (or supplementing this) to nourish and hydrate the skin from within.
Exercising and managing stress are also crucial for promoting circulation, repair, and regeneration. The skin is the largest organ in the body, and our habits significantly impact its health. That’s why developing healthy habits is so important and shouldn’t be overlooked.
