POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Thank you for attending Youth Lab for your ClearSilk Laser Facial. Please take the time to carefully read your post-treatment instructions below.
- Ensure your skin is adequately hydrated by applying moisturiser day and night.
- Only use gentle cleansers and products for the first 2-3 days
- Use SPF 50+ daily and reapply when required
- Do not use fake tan or spray tan for 7 days.
- Avoid sun exposure for 7 days.
- Avoid any heat-inducing activities for 24 hours.
- Do not pick or scratch the skin.
- Avoid smoking/vaping for a minimum of 14 days. Smokers generally experience poorer healing and suboptimal results so cessation is recommended.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The listed below are all normal side effects and should self-resolve within a few days to weeks.
- Erythema (redness)
- Tight or dry feeling skin.
- Purging of acne/pimples if there was an existing underlying congestion.

MANAGEMENT
Cold Sores
Cold Sore (HSV) outbreak in individuals who are susceptible is possible even for those who have not had an outbreak in a long time.
Cold Sore Relief
- It is recommended these individuals take prophylactic antiviral medication available over the counter from their local pharmacy prior to and post-treatment.
Redness
A slight red tinge to the skin post treatment is completely normal and will usually self resolve within a few hours.
Redness Relief
- You can apply makeup after the treatment, ensuring it is applied with clean hands and/or a clean makeup brush.
- Apply a cool compress to the area.
Dry Skin
Dry skin or a tight feeling, while unlikely, is completely normal post treatment. For clients that are prone to dry skin, it is more common to experience a few days post treatment.
Dry Skin Relief
- Apply regular hydrating products, i.e. Hyaluronic acid and Moisturisers
- Avoid any active or exfoliating products (AHA’s / BHA’s, Retinol, Vitamin C)
Purging of acne/pimples
If underlying congestion in the skin is present, you may experience some breakouts or pimples after undergoing any facial treatment. If this occurs they are generally short-lived and resolve fairly quickly. Purging of acne and deeper congestion that may not have been visible to you before a normal response to treatment and indicative that the skin is responding.
Purging Relief
- Ensure you are adequately cleaning your face morning and evening
- Do not pick or scratch at any breakouts.
- The HEALITE II LED treatment in the clinic is a good option for those cases where purging is severe and not manageable with home remedies.
FAQs
How long until I see results?
The results and longevity of the treatment depend on the condition of the skin prior to treatment.
When used in relatively healthy skin for fine lines, collagen stimulation, firming and plumping an immediate contraction of existing collagen and elastin fibres is visible post treatment resulting in a plump and contoured look to the area. This initial contraction is temporary with one off treatments and can last 7-10 days, however with ongoing treatments deeper, longer lasting collagen stimulation will begin to occur with improvements in the skin often visible following the second and third treatments.
Over the course of treatments, the improvements will begin to become evident with the noticeable firming, plumping of the skin and a reduction in lines, wrinkles and photodamage.
When managing vascular skin conditions such as Rosacea, persistent diffuse erythema, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and erythema lesions results are cumulative and visible over time with subtle changes emerging between treatments one and three, with more dramatic improvements seen following the sixth treatment.
On average, most clients will require 4-6 treatments to achieve optimal results with regular maintenance throughout the year.
When should I get another treatment?
Treatments can be performed 2-4 weeks apart, for maintenance treatments can be performed 3-6 monthly to promote long term results.
