About the Clear V Vascular Laser

The Sciton Clear V Laser is a medical-grade vascular device that uses targeted light energy to address visible redness and superficial vessels without damaging surrounding skin tissue.

Operating at a 1064 nm wavelength, it safely penetrates to precise depths to heat unwanted blood vessels, leading to their gradual closure and re-absorption by the body.

This process specifically targets oxyhaemoglobin (the red pigment within blood) making Clear V highly effective for small vascular lesions, spider veins, and diffuse redness caused by rosacea or chronic irritation.

Treatment can be tailored for multiple areas, including the face, neck, chest, and legs, and is suitable for a wide range of skin types when performed by trained practitioners.

Youth Lab is a Radiation Council of Western Australia–registered clinic, equipped with Sciton Clear V technology as part of our comprehensive laser and light-based treatment suite.

All vascular laser procedures are performed by qualified dermal therapists, registered nurses or doctors, under medical supervision, ensuring optimal outcomes and safety.

What Concerns Can Clear V Address?
  • Capillaries and spider veins
  • Blue veins around the eyes
  • Cherry angiomas
  • Rosacea and facial redness
Vascular lesions (such as port-wine stains)

Visible surface vessels and redness can develop for many reasons, including genetic predisposition, environmental exposure, ageing, hormonal factors, or inflammatory skin conditions.

When capillaries are repeatedly dilated or inflamed, their walls may lose elasticity, causing them to remain enlarged and visible at the skin’s surface.

Clear V targets these vessels using selective photothermolysis, the absorption of laser light by haemoglobin within the vessel. The heat generated causes the vessel walls to contract and collapse, after which the body gradually removes the treated vessels through natural healing processes.

Depending on vessel size and colour, some improvement may be seen immediately, while others fade gradually over several weeks.

It is important to note that the Clear V does not treat deep leg veins, reticular veins or varicose veins. Specialist input and further investigations may be required.

How the treatment works:
  1. Light Energy Delivery – Pulses of 1064 nm laser light are absorbed by haemoglobin within targeted vessels.

  2. Selective Heating – The absorbed light converts to heat, causing localised coagulation of the vessel.

  3. Natural Resolution – The body’s immune system clears away treated vessels, reducing redness and improving skin clarity.

The laser incorporates advanced contact cooling technology, maintaining skin comfort and minimising the risk of overheating or injury.

FAQs

What does the treatment involve?

During your consultation, your practitioner will evaluate the area of concern and confirm suitability for treatment.

Protective eyewear is worn throughout. A cooling gel and integrated contact cooling within the handpiece help maintain comfort.

You may feel a quick warm or snapping sensation as the light passes over the skin.

Each session takes approximately 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the treatment area and individual needs.

How long do results last?

Visible results develop gradually as the skin settles and surface redness reduces in appearance over a few weeks.

Clear V Laser results are long-lasting and can be maintained for many months, particularly when combined with proper skin care and sun protection.

Depending on the underlying cause and lifestyle factors, results may last between 6 and 18 months. Noting that vascular conditions are chronic and can be managed, no cured with non surgical treatments.

Maintenance sessions every 6 to 12 months are recommended for optimal long-term clarity, especially for those with rosacea or chronic vascular conditions.

What happens after my treatment?

Immediately following treatment, mild redness or warmth may occur. Some treated vessels may darken or change colour before fading naturally.

These temporary effects usually resolve within 24 to 48 hours.

Your practitioner will provide personalised aftercare instructions, which typically include:

  • Avoiding heat, saunas, and vigorous exercise for 24 hours

  • Using broad-spectrum SPF 50+ daily

  • Avoiding active skincare (vitamin A, exfoliants) for 3–5 days

  • Keeping the area cool and well hydrated

Visible results often develop gradually over 1 to 4 weeks as treated vessels are reabsorbed.

Your clinician will provide personalised aftercare instructions to support your healing and comfort.

What are the risks of treatment?

When performed by qualified professionals, Clear V Laser has a strong safety record.

Temporary redness, swelling, or minor bruising are common and typically subside within a few days.

Less common side effects include:

  • Temporary darkening or greying of treated vessels
  • Bruising
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation (usually temporary)
  • Rare blistering, burns  or crusting from excessive heat exposure

Clear V is not suitable for individuals who are pregnant, have active infections, or have recently tanned skin.

Deep leg veins, reticular veins, and varicose veins require specialist vascular assessment and are not treated with this device.
