Using our state of the art treatment platform, utilising Endymed 3DEEP Radio Frequency technology, we can now offer a safe and effective treatment which combines both skin tightening and skin resurfacing.
As we age, we begin to lose collagen and elastin, there is a reduction in the production of new collagen and collagen fibres start to become disorganised and offer less support to the skin.
This results in looser skin, fine lines and wrinkles and a loss of the structural integrity of the skin. The slowing down of the skin’s metabolism and production of healthy new collagen and elastin results in visible signs of ageing.
The Endymed Fractional Skin Resurfacing treatment is unique in that is provides a volumetric deep dermal heating which stimulates the collagen fibres deep in the skin to tighten and plump the skin (both immediately and long term), as well as treating all skin layers with RF energy to effectively resurface the damaged skin cells at the surface of the skin.

Radio-frequency Fractional Skin Resurfacing (FSR) works by deep volumetric heating of the dermis to stimulate collagen production while resurfacing the top layers of the skin. Fractional Skin Resurfacing effectively treats all skin layers for optimal results.
The 3DEEP technology by Endymed is the most powerful Radio-frequency technology available. It delivers controlled energy to the depth of the dermis, heating the tissue to 55 degrees with minimal heat to the surface of the skin. This is achieved through gently focusing the device energy into the dermis for optimal collagen remodeling.
The FSR hand piece is specially designed to target certain depths of the skin for different indications but also gently heats the surface of the skin to result in the resurfacing effect.
It successfully combines both skin tightening with skin resurfacing and is a completely unique treatment.
Due to the controlled RF energy to regulated temperatures the treatment does not have the risk of damage, prolonged redness and hyperpigmentation which may occur with laser as there is minimal epidermal heating or ablation.
The treatment works to stimulate the skin’s natural healing mechanisms and by stimulating this process results in a smoother and brighter skin surface as well as a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring and pore size, as well as an overall tightening effect.

What does the treatment involve?
Following your consultation with our doctors, nurses or dermal therapists and the formulation of a treatment plan you will be booked in for your procedure. We ask for you to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to treatment where your skin will be cleaned and a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied.
By using topical anaesthetic the treatment is much more comfortable. Once the skin is numb the treatment commences, taking around 30-60 minutes depending on the areas treated.
The treatment involves passing the RF FSR hand piece over the skin. The hand piece releases fractionated RF energy deep into the dermis but also heats the epidermis to achieve resurfacing of damaged and dead skin cells. The precision of the treatment is determined by the depth and degree of energy released and can be targeted to individual concerns and the condition of the skin.
The treatment is comfortable and you will feel a heat sensation as RF energy passes through the skin. Following the treatment, the skin will be red and possibly swollen. There may be small dots where the fractional RF energy passes through the top layers of the skin. Post procedure recovery creams and sunscreen will be applied. There should be no bleeding with the treatment.
How long do results last?
The results of fractional skin resurfacing are long lasting as the treatment stimulates the body’s natural collagen and elastin production which is permanent. Once full and optimal results are achieved collagen stimulation will continue for up to 8 months. The skin will continue to age with natural collagen depletion over time so maintenance treatments may be required.
The results of the FSR treatment become evident in 1 to 2 weeks with ongoing collagen stimulation deep in the dermis for a month. The skin will appear smoother and more refined within a few days due to the resurfacing while the tightening effect will continue to improve.
Many people get noticeable improvements after a single session. Consecutive treatments are recommended to encourage optimal collagen production and adequately treat individual concerns. Every patient is different and factors such as age, skin conditions, lifestyle factors and use of home care will affect the results.
We recommend an initial course of 3 treatments (more may be required) every 4 weeks. This will encourage collagen production for up to 8 months with very long lasting results. Maintenance treatments can be discussed as required. We can often alternate treatments with our other RF treatments such as the Intensif, Skin Tightening and Contouring treatments for optimal results.
Your practitioner will advise you of the best treatment plan and determine the number of treatments you may require.
What happens after my treatment?
Following the treatment there should be minimal discomfort. The skin will appear very red initially but will settle down within a few hours. Redness will persist to some degree for up to 48 hours and is easily covered the following day by mineral makeup.
There will also be some mild swelling. Some people are more prone to swelling so we advise taking antihistamines pre- and post treatment to resolve any bothersome swelling. Redness and swelling depend on the intensity of the treatment. Small dots (called micro-crusts) from the fractionated energy may also appear. They generally form 1-2 days after the treatment and usually disappear by 7 days. It is important to never pick or scratch at these micro-crusts as this may cause infection and scarring.
Full aftercare instructions will be provided after the treatment and strict adherence to these is essential to minimise discomfort and to ensure optimal results and healing.
What are the risks of treatment?
The FSR treatment has minimal risks and avoids the risks such as prolonged redness, pigment changes, burns and scars which may be associated with more intense laser treatments (especially non-doctor operated lasers).
Safety is of the highest importance at Youth Lab and we understand that minimal risk and low downtime are of utmost priority to our clients. We aim to deliver safe and effective treatments which is why the FSR by Endymed is an exciting treatment.
Generally there are no adverse effects. The skin will be red with some swelling and micro-crusts immediately post treatment. Studies have not demonstrated major complications such as post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, burns scars or infection but with any medical treatment these are always a possibility.
A full list of precautions and contraindications will be discussed at your consultation. Radiofrequency cannot be performed in those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have implanted metallic or electronic devices (eg pacemakers), current inflammation or infection and certain medical conditions such as active cancer, heart disease or who are immunosuppressed.
