I have just returned from Sydney where I mingled and learned from some of the great minds (and hands) of aesthetic and cosmetic medicine and surgery from around the world.
One of the presenters was Dr Herve Raspalso who is an aesthetic and plastic surgeon from Cannes in France. He is the pioneer of a new technique in the concept of medical rhinoplasty by using the injection of dermal fillers.
He describes his technique as the Eiffel Tower Nose-lift – this beautiful concept describes the injection of dermal fillers to the nose in a step by step method. Thus recreating the various levels of Eiffel tower “it’s solid foundation, it’s majestic frame, it’s graceful head”.
I was inspired by his work and felt the need to share more information about the concept of a medical nose job, which is quite a new concept and one many people may not yet know about. I have since done further research and hands on training about the non surgical nose job with dermal fillers and have seen this see this become a popular treatment option for my clients.
A non-surgical rhinoplasty is becoming one of my most performed treatments when it comes to total facial rejuvenation and beautification.
What is a liquid rhinoplasty?
A liquid rhinoplasty or non-surgical nose job involves the use of injectable dermal fillers to refine, shape and correct the shape of the nose.
Using dermal fillers as a way to sculpt and define the face rather than simply fill in lines and folds is what is so exciting about the field of aesthetic medicine.
Many patients come in with a particular concern – for example their nasolabial folds or their cheeks – however on full facial assessment it is apparent that their symmetry and facial proportions and projection can be improved by very slight alterations to their nose.
The nose is what the eyes are drawn to when we first see a face, it is the center point to a person’s beauty. Why would you undergo an invasive and potentially risky surgical procedure when there is a non-invasive and effective alternative?
“The correction of nasal deformities or nose enhancement by dermal fillers can correct may irregularities without the down time or expense of surgery.”
So who is suitable for a non-surgical rhinoplasty?
The simple answer is anyone.
I feel a full facial assessment and measurement of your facial proportions is essential however even a very subtle or small volume of dermal filler can make a world of difference. However in certain cases where there is significant asymmetries, underlying septal deformities or previous trauma then surgery may be the only option. A good comsetic physician will ALWAYS refer on to a plastic surgeon in more complicated cases.
What are the results?
A liquid rhinoplasty can
– make the nose look straighter, larger or more symmetrical
– define or lift the nasal tip
– narrow the nasal bridge
– reduce the appearance of bumps or surface imperfections
– contour the nose in fitting with the rest of the face
And the results are immediate – no need for dressings, no swelling and no extensive facial bruising!
What is important to note is that a non-surgical rhinoplasty with dermal fillers can improve the shape and overall appearance of the nose however the size of the nose is not significantly changed. In a surgical procedure the size of the nose can be reduced however the use of dermal fillers is limited to augmenting and enhancing.
A trial of a non-surgical rhinoplasty prior to proceeding to invasive surgery is often a great option for some patients.
“The results are immediate and depending on the dermal filler used can last up to 24 months.”
